Ryan Simpkins began using GNU/Linux in critical production environments in 1998. He is currently a Sr. Linux System Administrator working with fortune 500 companies and over 10,000 production Linux servers. Currently the system he administers receives more than 7 billion front-end transactions daily. Ryan also administers one of the ten largest MySQL installations in the world handling over 300 billion queries daily.

With a deep understanding of POSIX systems, the Linux kernel, and GNU tools Ryan has been able to provide professional level services to many businesses. As a programmer Ryan has worked with Perl, Python, Ruby, PHP, and C/C++ to create countless business critical applications. Ryan currently resides in Lehi, Utah with his wife and five children.
