January PLUG Meeting: Linux Enterprise System Management
Date: Wednesday Jan 9, 2007
Time: 7:30 PM
Location: Omniture, Inc.
PLUG has arranged another great meeting for the month of January. Aaron Anderson, Lead Linux System Administrator at Omniture, will be addressing the group. He will be talking about enterprise scale systems management with Linux. Aaron has a unique perspective of systems growth challenges. Having seen the system he manages grow from 30 to over 10,000 Linux servers over eight years he has learned critical lessons that he will share with us. If you write code or manage servers in a business environment, this is one meeting you do not want to miss.
Aaron Anderson has been employed as a Un*x systems administrator since 1996 and has been working with GNU/Linux for nearly as long. Since 1999 he has been employed by Omniture, Inc. (then known as MyComputer.com), and while filling senior systems architecture and administration roles, has been instrumental in that company's IT infrastructure growth from less than 50 to more than 10,000 production Linux servers located in datacenters worldwide. Current responsibilities as senior systems administrator include service, software and hardware evaluations, OS and software deployment system development, systems software packaging and distribution, tier 5 escalation, interdepartmental application development consultation and the ongoing tasks associated with managing Omniture's extensive infrastructure and global expansion. Aaron currently resides in Sandy, UT, and when not working, enjoys participating in numerous outdoor activities, including flying his Cessna 310.
